My name is Amy Tanner and I am currently studying animal care due to my interest in animals. I find animals fascinating for a lot of reasons, and one of the reasons I like them so much is because of the many ways they can help humans and change our lives. Here, I will be explaining a few of the ways in which they can do this.
Comfort- Certain types of animals can be owned by humans as pets. To the humans who own them, pets are viewed as important members of their family, and caring for and playing with pets can be very comforting to humans, who form a bond with them. Certain domestic animals, particularly dogs, can also work as “therapy animals” in places such as hospitals, and visit patients to cheer them up.
Jobs- There are lots of different jobs for animals where they can help humans and make our day-to-day lives a lot easier.
Horses can be ridden by humans and are a lot stronger and have more stamina than us, so they have been very useful as a form of transport in the past, before vehicles such as cars and buses were created. Although horses are much less commonly used as transport today, many people still like to ride them for fun. Horses also helped people with farming before tractors and other types of machinery were created to help us with these jobs instead.
Dogs are a particularly important animal as they are able to help humans in a wide variety of different ways. They are very loyal and bond well with humans so they are often willing to help us out, and they are also one of the easiest animals to train which means that they do their jobs well. Dogs can provide assistance for disabled people to make their lives easier, such as guide dogs for blind people, hearing dogs for deaf people, or other types of service dogs who are trained to help disabled people with whatever they may need assistance with, such as fetching and bringing items to someone with limited mobility. Another area that dogs can work in is security. Bigger dogs such as German Shepherds can work as guard dogs or be trained to help the police catch dangerous criminals. In addition to this, dogs also have an excellent sense of smell which is way better than that of humans, so they can use this to help humans in jobs such as search and rescue, or help police find things such as hidden drug stashes. Dogs, particularly border collies, can also be very good at herding groups of other animals, and so they can work on farms to help herd animals such as sheep into a pen or enclosure.
In addition to helping humans with their jobs, the existence of animals is also good for providing humans with jobs that involve animals, such as a vet, zookeeper, trainer, breeder, groomer, and many more.
